Sunday February 12, 2012

During the night a big wind came up and we woke to a cloudy day. The temperature was nice and comfortable all day. The wind slowed down as the day went on but it stayed a little more breezy. It was a perfect day for working on the beach. We cut and hauled more trees and shoveled and raked rocks. Hard work.

Richard did a little fishing early in the day, but no luck. I took a little walk on the street to do some exploring. It is the only rode on the whole island. I am looking for some driftwood to make a sign for our yard.

We made a bike trip to the store and brought back our painting supplies. We got small containers of paint to start just to make sure we like the color. We are still trying to get in the mood to paint. Richard took the finish off one of the drawers in the bathroom vanity to get a look under it. Now it really looks bad in the bathroom. We will have to do some changes in there too eventually.

I made my potato salad today and it turned out pretty good. We seem to be eating an awful lot here lately.

Tonight we walked around our beach in the dark and then sat on the porch. We had all the house lights off, so it was very dark. The moon seems to have disappeared tonight. It is getting smaller and will maybe come up a little later. These circumstances gave the stars a chance to show off. Boy, were they brilliant. More stars than you can ever imagine. I don't remember them looking like this at home, even at the farms where we have no light. It is a beautiful evening. So quiet it could hurt your ears.

Today I told Richard that we need to get up earlier and stay up later so we have more time here. The days just fly by. We hear it has gotten very cold back home. I'm glad we are escaping that.
